When Morgan retired in November, I was going to get him a new bicycle as a retirement present. We were in Cookeville, TN and went to Cookeville Bicycles. When we walked in the salesman immediately asked, “Have you tried an e-bike?” Morgan got on the e-bike and pedaled around the parking lot, and long story, short he came back in and we said we’ll take two! We are the proud owners of 2 EDart bikes! We originally thought they would be very helpful to get around some of the larger campgrounds and run short errands, and they have been excellent for that purpose. But then we discovered Bike Paths, and I am now OBSESSED with them! Now that I am on the lookout for them, I am quite surprised that they are everywhere!
- Chattahoochee Riverwalk, Columbus, GA, 15 miles. This was our first, and we found it by accident. Our campground, Camp David RV Resort (also on the favorites list), was located right on one end of the bike path. This paved (asphalt and concrete) path runs right along the Chattahoochee River on the Georgia side. We went about 5 miles of the 15 total miles. Of course, that means a 10-mile round trip ride. Morgan will tell you that he has a 10-mile butt! We were here to visit our friends Faith and Esli Pitts who live on Fort Benning. Although the trail is 15 miles long, the post has a bunch of trails too, and there is an easy path that will get from the post to the trail. Also, one of our favorite breweries, Chattabrewchee, is only a few blocks from the main trail! Yippee!
- Pumpkin Vine, from Goshen to Shipshewana, IN, 17.6 miles. We got on the trail in Middlebury. This is a delightful ride and what a great name! This goes through Amish country, we also stopped at Krider Garden, saw a bison farm, and rewarded ourselves from the ride by stopping at Wedgwood Brewing Company (#1 on the burger list, and on the brewery list) just about 2 blocks from the trail. All this within the 10-mile out and back!
- Trails around Minneapolis, MN. Specifically, around Medicine Lake. I didn’t put a mileage or specify a trail because they are EVERWHERE! We went here to visit our friends, Curt and Robyn Gilbert. They asked if we like to bike ride, and we told them YES! They have e-bikes too! We went out as a foursome and Robyn and I went out another day in an entirely different direction. This was such a fun day and Luce Line Brewing was along the way.
This is a list I am excited to expand, we have found trails everywhere we have been. Some stops we did not have enough time to explore the bike trails. Maybe on our next route we can plan around some of these trails. The Mickelson Trail, 108.8 miles from Edgemont to Deadwood, SD (Black Hills region) is high on my wish list. I love our E-Darts and seeing America by bicycle!
